Dunn, Robert Lewis “Bob” – Obituary

Robert “Bob” Lewis Dunn,74, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, from cancer.

He was born in Baker City on June 1, 1931, to George and Maxine Duff. They later divorced and his mother remarried Austin Dunn who adopted Bob. He was a third generation Oregonian. He moved to this area in 1956.

He grew up in Baker City and was a Boy Scout and was proud of being able to attend a World Jamboree in Paris, France, in 1947. He graduated from Baker High School in 1950 and served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. Bob attended Eastern Oregon College and the University of Oregon and received a degree in business.

Bob met Mary Lou Schell in college and they married on Feb. 26, 1955, and had four children. They shared over 51 years together.

Bob worked for McDonald Candy Company, and was Assistant Manager for the Ems Baseball team, was Manager of KEED Radio and was the owner of The Prairie Schooner Bar & Grill for 27 years and retired in 2000.

Bob liked being active in his community, and enjoyed meeting people in all walks of life. He belonged to the J.C.s, Active 20/30 Club, Springfield Elks Lodge, Eagles, Oregon Alumni Association, Oregon Club and The Oregon Restaurant Association which he served on the board of directors.

Bob loved Kauai and made many trips there and made many new friends. He especially loved the Oregon Coast. He was an avid Duck Fan and attended football games since they were played at Hayward Field. A surgeon once noted he had green and yellow blood flowing through his veins.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Eugene; sons, Mike Dunn of Springfield, Bob Dunn and his wife Diane of Junction City; daughters, Debbie Osborne of Waldport, Rhonda Beach and her husband Cal of Veneta; granddaughter, Melissa Osborne of Astoria; grandson, Jason Beach of Eugene; brother, Bill Dunn of Portland; and sisters, Jessica Dunn and Mary Simmonds of Portland.

A Celebration of Life ceremony was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the Springfield Elks.
Private Entombment was at Rest Haven.
