Dewey Jacobs Sr., 71, of Baker City, died Dec. 19, 2005, at his home.
His funeral will take place at a later date. Visitations will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey St.
Dewey was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Baker City. He lived here all his life.
He was a caring and loving man. He always took time to tell you a story or lend an ear if you needed someone to just listen.
Dewey served in the Army in Missouri, three times in Vietnam, Germany and Japan with honorable discharges. He also worked with the Baker County Sheriff’s Department under Terry Speelman.
Dewey loved people and his hobbies. He loved to collect old cars, especially old Cadillacs. Boy, did he have an eye for those. He also loved to collect antiques and miscellaneous knick-knacks.
Dewey was a great man and will be forever missed.
He is survived by his sister, Ethel Taylor Rodgers; a brother, Dewayne Jacobs and his wife, Patty; sons, Raymond Jacobs, Dewey Jacobs Jr., Joey Jacobs and Jerry Jacobs; daughters, Virginia Jacobs Durham and Lucretia Jacobs McDermott; brothers-in-law, Frank Miller, of Baker City, and Joe Bailey, Ervin Bailey and Richard Bailey; sisters-in-law Elvina Hughes and Sandra Cartwright; and ex-wife Virginia Carter of Baker City; several nieces, nephews and cousins, numerous friends and his faithful dog, Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Goldie Jacobs; brothers, Edward Pointer and Harold Pointer; sisters, Edna Emery Brill, Erma Price and Odetta Miller; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Christensen.
