Memorial services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church for Albert Morse Butler of Joseph who passed away Tuesday, August 31, 1965 at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton where he had been a patient for nine days. Pastor R.A. Garner officiated and music was furnished by the church.
Honorary pallbearers were: Ernie Cloud, L.L. Beidler, Frank Brown, Clyde Fleenor, Joe Naughton, William Coleman, Robert Johnson, Jerry Jennings and John Steele.
Casket bearers were: Richard Granger, Glenn Zamzow, Ralph Stickney, Ralph Jewell, Don Mallon, and Dee Meade, and internment was in the Prairie Creek Cemetery with military committal by American Legion Joseph Post 157.
Mr. Butler was born January 13, 1910 on the Imnaha, son of Horace and Sarah Butler, and had lived in Wallowa County all his life. He had been employed by Chief Joseph Lumber Company and was a heavy equipment operator. On December 28, 1946 he was married at Meridian, Kansas to Vera Moore who survives him. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and belonged to Eagle Cap Post 4307 of VFW. He was also a member of Liberty Grange and of Blue Mountain Council No. 2798 of Joseph. He had been in ill health for the past three months.
Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers, J.E., of Joseph, Paul, of Asotin, Wash., and Jack, of Cottonwood, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Elma Thompson of Asotin, Wash.
