Toy, Grace Y. Lee Mrs. – Obituary

Mrs. Grace Y. Toy, 1917 Court St., Baker, died Tuesday evening in St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Toy was born April 8, 1896 at Sherwood, Ore., the daughter of Lee and June Ho Lee. She graduated from Yakima High School and was the first Chinese girl to graduate from Whitman College, Walla Walla. She was married to Henry Toy in 1930 and had resided in Baker ever since. She was owner and manager of the oldest restaurant in Baker, Toy’s Hostess House.

Mrs. Toy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oregon Trail Auxiliary No. 78 VFW, and Anthony Lakes Auxiliary, VFW, both of Baker.

Survivors include three brothers, Tom Lee and Mark Lee, Portland, and Lynn Lee, Salinas, Calif.’ A sister, Rita Young, Yakima, Wash.; seven nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews and 16 great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11:15 a.m., at The Beatty Chapel. The Rev. James H. Soden of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
