Elmo Hearing Lifetime Resident
Graveside services for Elmo LaVerne Hearing of 1610 Dewey Ave, a lifetime Baker and Baker County resident 62 years were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Reverend James Berentson of the First Lutheran Church officiated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Grays West and Co. Pioneer Chapel.
Mr. Hearing was born May 26, 1907 at Haines, Oregon the son of pioneer Oregon parents, Frank and Faitha McCullough Hearing. He had his early schooling in Haines and was a graduate of the Haines High School. For many years he was a rancher in Baker County at both Haines and North Powder.
For the past several years he has been a salesman and driver for the Phillips Petroleum Co. here in Baker.
He passed away as a result of a truck accident eight miles west of Haines Monday afternoon.
He is survived by one brother, Glen Hearing of the Dalles, Ore.; one sister, Maryrose Winkler of Los Angles and several nieces and nephews including Jerry Waltz of Portland.
Friends who wish may call at Grays West and Co. to sign the Memorial Books as the casket will not be opened at the Chapel nor the graveside.
