David Gover Was Eagle Valley Farmer
Seven of Nine Children Survive; Dies at 87
Services for David S. Gover Sr., 87, of Richland, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, 1971 at the Methodist Church in Richland.
The Rev. Russell Booher of Halfway officiated with interment following in the family plot at Eagle Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Beatty Chapel. Mr. Gover passed away early on Friday morning, July 23 at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Gover was born on Feb. 20, 1884 at Bates County, Mo. the son of William Louden and Rebecca Allen Gover. He came to Eagle Valley with his parents when a small baby and lived in Eagle Valley since that time where he had engaged in the farming business. On Nov. 7, 1907 he was united in marriage to Pearl Leno Thorp at Baker.
He is survived by four sons: Ronald H, of Summerville, David S. Jr., of Alicel, Clifford L, Jordan Valley and William L. Gover of Richland; three daughters: Mrs. Marvin (Mary L.) Cropp of North Powder, Mrs. Walter (Mattie) Dethloff of Rainier, and Mrs. Melvin (Lura Jane) Heggie of Santa Ana, Calif.; one sister: Mrs. Joe (Reba) McPartland of Vale; 35 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren, and by
numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Evangeline E. Thomas, by one son: Vester Gover and by his wife Pearl Leno Gover.
He was a member of the New Bridge Grange for many years.
