Chelan Indians

Chelan Indians. The name is derived from Chelan Lake.

Chelan Connections. An interior Salish tribe speaking the Wenachee dialect and separated tentatively from that tribe by Spier (1927).

Chelan Location. At the outlet of Lake Chelan.

Connections in which the Chelan have become noted. The name Chelan is shared not only by the lake above mentioned but by Chelan Falls, a range of mountains, a county, and two post villages, Chelan and Chelan Falls.
