Connecticut Bible Records

At the Connecticut State Library, one of the indexes in the History & Genealogy hallway is devoted to Bibles and other family records. It contains about 25,000 transcribed entries, dating from the 1600s through the early 1900s. The index leads researchers to bound volumes that often include details about multiple family members. Each entry notes the original source, the name of the owner, and the location of the material when it was deposited with the State Library.

This entire set of volumes of Bible records has been placed online Familysearch. The following links will take you directly to each volume in the set. I suggest you utilize the index for each set of volumes as they’re not indexed otherwise and it leaves you to going page by page of typed and handwritten entries. Volumes 24-27 are not currently indexed.

None of the records are the original Bible records. They are transcriptions from the originals which can be found at the Connecticut State Library in Hartford.
