William A. Oltman, 82, resident of Marion township, died at Major Hospital at 1:15 this morning following an illness of six months.
Born near Hope March 31, 1873, Mr. Oltman, a farmer, had spent most of his life in Shelby county. His parents were Dirk and Susan (Reed) Oltman. He was a member of the Haw Patch Baptist Church near Clifford.
In 1898 he was married to Emma Stoughton whose death occurred in 1933. He is survived by four children. Mrs. Bertha Hughes, and Robert S. Oltman, of this city, Mrs. Bessie Stoughton, Greenfield, and Mrs. Mary Bennett of Marion township. Also surviving are three brothers, George E. Oltman of this city, John H. Oltman, Jackson township and Harvey Oltman, Vero Beach, Florida. There are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services, in charge of the Ewing mortuary, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Blue River Separate Baptist Church near Marietta. Burial will be in the Conover cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Sunday.
