Yamel Tribe

The Yamel Indians were a Kalapooian tribe that historically resided along Yamhill Creek, a west tributary of the Willamette River in Oregon. By 1910, their population had dwindled to just five individuals, as they became part of the Siletz school. In 1877, ethnographer Gatschet identified several bands within the tribe, including Andshankualth, Andshimmampak, Chamifuamim, Chamiwi, Champikle, and Chinchal.
