Coosuc Tribe
The Coosuc Indians, likely part of the Pennacook tribe, inhabited the area near the junction of the Upper and Lower Ammonoosuc rivers in New Hampshire. Their village, Coos or Coosuc, was situated near the Lower Ammonoosuc’s mouth. In 1704, they were displaced by English settlers and subsequently allied with the St. Francis Indians, maintaining their identity into at least 1809. The Coosuc Tribe is historically connected to the Coosucks and the St. Francis Indians of Vermont.
