Mrs. Polly Swiger, age 81, passed away on October 9, 1910, at her home near Union, Oregon. Born on September 29, 1829, in Jackson County, Ohio, she married N. Swiger in 1851 and moved to Oregon in 1864. The couple had seven children, four of whom survive her. Mrs. Swiger’s funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church on October 12. She is remembered as a devoted family member, with surviving siblings also honoring her life.
Jose D. “Joe” Zamora, 72, of Baker City, passed away on September 23, 2001, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Boise. His funeral will be held at Coles-Strommer Funeral Home with military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery. Born in Nebraska, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and worked for the City of Los Angeles. Joe is survived by his wife Susan, five children from his first marriage, and numerous grandchildren and relatives. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
