Speir

Q. M. Sergt. from the Headquarters Detachment, M. S. T. No. 422, was born in Pitt County to Hattie Speir. He enlisted on July 24, 1918, in Tarboro, North Carolina, and was trained at Camp Joseph E. Johnston before moving to Camp Upton. He embarked for France on September 16, 1918, and returned to the United States on June 6, 1919, ultimately being mustered out at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, on October 6, 1919.
