Kelita Davis Shugart, M. D. No history of Riverside can be considered complete without a more than passing mention of the pioneer of Riverside colony whose name heads this sketch. In 1869 Dr. Shugart was a resident of Belle Plain, Iowa, and at that time was desirous of establishing his residence in some portion of Southern California. Capt., Med. Corps; of Yadkin County; son of Isaac L. and Mrs. Emma Greenwood Shugart. Husband of Mrs. Grace Tatum Shugart. Entered service July 16, 1917, at Camp Jackson, S. C. Sent to Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. Transferred to Camp Jackson, S. C., transferred to Army Medical School. Promoted to rank of Capt. Nov. 8, 1918. Mustered out at Camp Taylor, Ky., Sept. 26, 1919.
