The Families of Ancient New Haven compilation includes the families of the ancient town of New Haven, covering the present towns of New Haven, East Haven, North Haven, Hamden, Bethany, Woodbridge and West Haven. These families are brought down to the heads of families in the First Census (1790), and include the generation born about 1790 to 1800. Descendants in the male line who removed from this region are also given, if obtainable, to about 1800, unless they have been adequately set forth in published genealogies.

John Todd3, (John2, Christopher1) born May 11, 1679, died Sept. 21, 1723, married Feb. 9, 1708-09, Hannah Butler, who married (2) Caleb, son of Thomas and Hannah Powell; who was born Aug. 29, 1674, by whom she had (1) Joshua; (2) Stephen. She was a daughter of John Butler, of Branford, Conn. In 1748, when the church society employed John Curtis to preach, Caleb Tuttle and wife and David Punderson and wife, Thankful, conveyed a half acre and 17 rods, fronting 100 feet on Elm St., for a parsonage lot.
