Green Lee Phillippe was born April 11, 1849, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, and died at his home south of town on September 4, 1912, aged 63 years, 4 months and 23 days. The deceased came to Iowa with his parents, Geo. and Agnes Phillippe during the spring of 1851, and located in Cedar Township, Mahaska county, three miles south of Fremont. Howard Lee Phillippe, 77, of 1102 S. 11th St. died Saturday night [March 31, 1984] at the Mahaska Manor Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 18, 1906 at Fremont, the son of Asa and Carrie Lawson Phillippe. He was married to Carmen Wood at Newton on June 5, 1933. He retired in September of 1973 after working for 33 years for the Iowa Department of Transportation. She was born Jan. 25, 1915 at Reasnor to Edmund and Iva O’Connor Wood. She attended schools in Jasper County and graduated in 1931 from Newton High School. Mrs. Mildred Phillippe, 67, of LaCrosse, WI, formerly of Ottumwa died Saturday [December 27, 1969] in LaCrosse. She had been ill four months. She was the daughter of A. X. and Effie Sprague Swenson and was born Feb. 9, 1902 in Ottumwa, and resided there until moving to LaCrosse in 1954.
