St. Charles County's Participation in the World War

Soon after World War 1 localities across the country wished to honor the men and women who had served the Nation from their locality. St. Charles County, Missouri, is one of these counties. This manuscript isn’t limited to just the men who fought overseas, it also includes the women who had participated via Red Cross and the men who had actively served in the various campaigns backing the War here at home.

The series contains original affidavits of registration that record personal information about each registrant, their photograph affixed to the majority of documents, and the registrants fingerprints. All of these are specific to Kansas, and most have the actual documents attached.

Biography of George Washington Nolle

George W. Nolle, born on January 18, 1872, in Illinois, has been a prominent figure in Muskogee since 1904, where he established a successful real estate and insurance business. His steady perseverance has led to significant community contributions and personal affluence. Nolle, previously engaged in merchandising for 17 years, was married to Emma May Wilson, with whom he had a son, Glenn William. Glenn served in the U.S. Army during World War I, sustaining injuries in battle. Emma Nolle passed away in 1902, leaving George well-regarded in the community.
