Biography of P. H. McEvoy

P. H. McEvoy was born on May 9, 1848, in Sidney, Australia, and emigrated to San Francisco with his family in 1849. After a challenging six-month voyage, they settled in Monterey before relocating to the Carey Jones ranch near Redwood City in 1852. McEvoy attended the first school in San Mateo County and began farming at eighteen. A lifelong Democrat, he served as the township’s supervisor for sixteen years. After retiring in 1914, he remains active and is encouraged by his peers to run for supervisor again.
