I. H. McCord, County Recorder of Baker County, and one of the most popular young men in it, was born in Idaho, in 1866. He came to Baker County at an early age with his parents, and received his education in the academy located here at that time. After leaving school he entered the employ of S. B. Y., died Feb. 27, 1852, married first, Laura, daughter of Enoch Mead who was a Colonel in Revolutionary Army. She was born Jan. 22, 1783, died July 26, 1814. He married second, widow Jane (Baker) Teed, relict of Samuel Teed, and daughter of Samuel Baker, of Somers, N. Y. He married third, Betsey (Baker) Purdy, widow and a sister of his second wife. S.B. McCORD. – Syrenous Burnett McCord, one of the leading hardware merchants of Eastern Oregon, was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, in 1842. He went with his parents to Wisconsin when a youth, and lived there several years. At the age of eighteen he entered into an apprenticeship in a blacksmith shop in the city of Black Jack, his boss being the Honorable George W.
