Capt. Wm. M. Magden, attorney at law, was born in Genesee County, N.Y., in 1818; he removed to Wayne County, Mich., and engaged in the manufacture of agricultural implements; afterwards studied law in the office of Morgan & Joslin, at Elgin, Ill., and with Gen. Baker, at Clinton, Ia., two years, and admitted to the bar in Clinton County, in Dec., 1859, Judge Dillon presiding. He practiced in that county until 1862 and enlisted in the 26th Ia. Magden, Eva L. – Obituary

La Grande, Oregon Eva L. Magden, 92, of La Grande, died Dec. 10 at Grande Ronde Hospital. Mrs. Magden was born Aug. 22, 1914, in the Grande Ronde Valley. She also attended college here. She married Forest Henry Magden. He died May 18, 1973. She was a member of the Soroptomists, VFW Auxiliary and the Knife & Fork Club. Mrs. Magden is survived by two stepsons, Forest H. Magden of Tillamook, and Leonard Jay Magden, of El Paso, Texas; a grandniece and grandnephew, and several grandchildren. Both brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
