Huss, Elisha Harvey – Obituary

Harvey Huss died at his home in the Fairview District Tuesday [January 27, 1920] at the advanced age of 80 years. Mr. Huss had been a resident of Kittitas Valley since 1885 and was well known in this community. Mr. Huss was born in Ohio in 1840. In 1863 he married [Dorcas] Jane Graham, who survives him. In 1865 he crossed the plains by ox team and settled in Grant County, Oregon, coming to this valley in 1885 and settled upon the ranch where he died, which is located about 12 miles northeast of Ellensburg. The funeral of Ed Huss, who was killed by the accidental discharge of his .22 special rifle [May 4, 1917] while shooting magpies on his farm at Fairview yesterday morning at 6 o’clock, was held from the Christian church this afternoon under the direction of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge. A service was held at the home at 1:15 to which all friends of the family and decease were welcomed. The Rev. F. E. Billington read the funeral service at the church. Huss, Dorcas Jane Graham – Obituary

The death of Mrs. Harvey Huss, aged 77 years, occurred Wednesday morning at the home of her son, F. Huss, caused by bronchial pneumonia. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Dorcas was the daughter of William Graham and Catharine Pruitt. She married Elisha Harvey Huss in Missouri on April 3, 1863. Dorcas died February 11, 1925. She was buried in the IOOF Cemetery. Ray A. Huss, 78, of Parker, a farmer and 50-year resident of the Yakima Valley died Sunday [March 29] in Central Memorial Hospital, Toppenish. Mr. Huss was born at Ellensburg and came to the Valley from there. He had belonged to several Valley granges and was a past master of the Riverside Pomona Grange.
