Heil, Joanna Mrs. – Obituary

Mrs. Joanna Heil, 88, widow of the late Judge Henry Heil, died Saturday following a long illness. She was a native of La Grande, Oregon but had resided here many years. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Ochs Funeral Home with the Rev. Orrin Thayer of the Orleans Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. Surviving are one son, Don Mitchell, Orleans; a daughter, Mrs. Florence Donahue of La Grande, and five grandchildren. Biography of Peter Heil

Peter Heil, now living retired at Topeka, was born in Jefferson County, New York, December 9, 1840. When sixteen years of age he moved with his father, John Peter Heil, to Buchanan County, Iowa. His mother’s maiden name was Louisa Bueling, and she died when her son Peter was six years old. His parents were natives of Germany, and came to the United States separately as young people, being married in New York State.
