Biography of John V. Gunnison

John V. Gunnison, born on February 27, 1837, in Goshen, New Hampshire, emerged from a pioneering family deeply rooted in agriculture. The son of Vinal and Eliza Gunnison, he succeeded in farming and lumbering before becoming the High Sheriff of Sullivan County in 1894. Married to Angie Carr, they had four children, with three surviving. A Republican and active community member, Gunnison also served as County Commissioner and in the General Court, showcasing his commitment to public service and local governance.
