Neil H. Gaynus

Private Neil H. Gaynus, of Wake County, joined the military on September 18, 1917, and served in Company M of the 119th Regiment, 30th Division. He trained at several camps before sailing to France on May 12, 1918. During his service, he fought in key battles including Bellicourt and the Hindenburg Line. He returned to the United States on April 1, 1919, and was mustered out at Camp Jackson, South Carolina, on April 8, 1919.
