Private Claud T. Earnhardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Earnhardt from Pineville, N.C., enlisted on June 24, 1917. After training at Ft. Ben Harrison, he sailed to France on November 18, 1917, where he participated in numerous significant battles, including Woevre, Soissons, and the Meuse-Argonne. He served with the Army of Occupation from November 12, 1918, to April 28, 1919, and returned to the United States on June 1, 1919, before being mustered out on June 7 at Camp Mills.
Sgt. C. A. C. served in Company B of the 54th Regiment, hailing from Rowan County. He was born to W. and Cora Earnhardt and was married to Alyn Earnhardt. After enlisting on March 24, 1917, in Salisbury, North Carolina, he underwent training at Ft. Caswell and Camp Merritt. He embarked for France on October 14, 1918, returning to the United States on February 28, 1919, and was mustered out at Camp Lee, Virginia, on March 18, 1919.
George Earnhardt served as a Corporal in the Medical Corps of the 21st Company, Field Artillery, 5th Division. Hailing from Wake County and born to D. L. and Frances Earnhardt, he entered military service on May 17, 1917, in Raleigh, North Carolina. After training at Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and Fort Sam Houston, he was deployed to France on June 13, 1918, participating in key battles including St. Mihiel and the Argonne. He was mustered out in July 1919 at Camp Lee, Virginia.
