Bailes, Helen Curtis – Obituary

Helen Bailes, 90, former Ellensburg area resident, died Monday evening at her home in Seattle. She was born December 17, 1889 in Oregon. She married Amos Bailes in Oregon [married in Yakima Co., WA]. They settled in the Fairview District where they homesteaded until his death in 1932. Mrs. Bailes moved to Seattle in 1943. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Bailes, of Selah, and Lauren Bailes, of Seattle; three daughters, Dorothy Huff and Lydia Bailes, both of Seattle, and Bonnie Nora Dimm, of Federal Way; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. George S. Bailes of 844 South Sixth Street, Cottage Grove passed away June 1, 1963 at Cottage Grove Hospital at the age of 90 years. Born November 22, 1872 at Scio, Oregon. Married Emma Johnson, May 22, 1899 at Castle Rock, Washington. Residing in Lane County the last 58 years, a member of the London Church of Christ. Besides his wife Emma, he is survived by one daughter, Rita Swan of Washington D. C. and one sister, Mattie Jackson of Castle Rock, Washington, and many other relatives. Bailes, Amos W. – Obituary

Amos W. Bailes, 58, died yesterday [May 25, 1932] afternoon at his home in the Fairview District following an illness of two weeks. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Honeycutt Chapel with Rev. Harry Bell in charge of the services. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Mr. Bailes was born August 7, 1874 in Oregon. He is survived by a widow, Helen and six children, Glen, Lydia, Virgil, Loren, Nora and Dorothy; a brother Archie McDonald and a sister, Mrs. A. H. Mrs. A. J. Bailes dies last night. Early Valley Pioneer succumbs; resided here since 1877. Death came last night September 16, 1937 to an early and widely known Kittitas Valley pioneer, Mrs. Sarah Jane Bailes, 78, at her home at 603 East Ninth Street. Mrs. Bailes came to the valley in 1877, and had lived here 60 years. She was married to Andrew Jackson Bailes, who survives her, 57 years ago. Death came here early this morning September 18, 1943 to an early and widely known Kittitas Valley pioneer, Andrew Jackson Bailes, 83. Born in Springfield, Mo., November 4, 1859, he came to the valley in 1878 and resided in the Fairview District most of his life. At the time of his death, he resided at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Houser, in Ellensburg. He was a charter member of the Ellensburg Christian Church.
