Biography of Moody Gillingham
Moody Gillingham, born on January 2, 1811, in Newbury, N.H., was a notable farmer and influential community figure until his death on October 16, 1882. Descended from early English settlers, he succeeded the family homestead after a brief farming stint in New York. A skilled farmer and articulate speaker, Gillingham served as Selectman and was known for his broad religious views. He married Julia Twiss and had four children. His legacy continued through his sons, who also engaged in local affairs and agriculture.
