Died-At the residence of S. O. Swackhumer in this city, Saturday, February 11, 1893, Mrs. E. A. Cusick. The deceased, whose maiden name was Emma Amanda Dodge, was born in Montpelier, Vermont, March 20th, 1850. Died in Union, Oregon, February 11, 1893, was therefore nearly 43 years old. When eight years of age she moved with friends to Omaha, Neb., and in the summer of 1863 crossed the plains with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Gilkison, William – Obituary

William Gilkison died Wednesday, April 29, 1931, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Jones, in Union. He would have been 84 years of age had he lived until next August, and was the eldest brother of John Gilkison of North Powder. He was a resident of Baker until last fall when he went to Union to live with his daughter. The remains were shipped to Baker and the funeral took place today from the Presbyterian church. At the residence of her daughter Mrs. Kennison, at Wingville, Oregon, August 24, 1890 after an illness of fifteen days, Mrs. Fetna Ann Ficklin, aged 70 years. Deceased was born February 22, 1820 in Boyle Co., Kentucky, moved to Missouri in 1853 (?) and from there to Union Oregon in 1864. Union, Union County, Oregon John R. Blize, a prominent citizen of Union for a number years deputy sheriff of the county, died at his home in Union, Tuesday morning of last week. Mr. Blize had been seriously afflicted for several months and had been in a Portland hospital since last November, until two days before his death. Local Hunter Shot To Death Gordon Spray, 54, La Grande, became the first recorded fatality of the 1973 Oregon deer season during the weekend. At least one other hunter was shot to death and two died of apparent heart attacks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
