Frances Lucille Brown, 87, died on June 18, surrounded by family at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Portland. She was born on July 14, 1917, in Lewellen, Nebraska. She was part of a large family and had nine brothers and sisters. After meeting and marrying Gerald Brown, she moved to Enterprise in 1947 where her husband founded Wallowa Valley Dairy. Herrin, Oliver – Obituary

A Mystery Solved The latter part of July last, Oliver Herrin, of Summerville, left the ranch of Terry Tuttle for the Blue mountains. Herrin was 24 years old, and at times acted strangely. When he left Tuttle’s he took a horse, blankets and rifle. Friday a hunting party found, nine miles from Summerville, the vest, watch and some of Herrin’s money. Saturday the searchers found his remains nearly consummed by fire. It is supposed the young man shot himself with the gun and fell into a fire of logs prepared by himself.
