La Grande, Oregon Ada Adelle Metsopulos, 98, of La Grande, died Jan. 3 at her home. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Metsopulos was born July 3, 1908, to Walter and Flora (Hunter) Curtiss in Promise. When she was very young the family moved to Wallowa, where she attended school. On April 25, 1925, she married Angel Metsopulos in Wallowa. They moved to La Grande in 1928. Wallowa County, Oregon Percy W. Thomas died recently at the Veteran’s Hospital at Livermore, Cal., and was buried in the government cemetery at San Francisco. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlow A. Thomas and was born in Promise, January 28, 1897. In the World war he served as a wireless operator in the Signal Corps and since then helped operate a fig farm at Planada, Cal., until his health failed six months ago and he went to the hospital. Promise, Wallowa County, Oregon Early Promise Resident Dies Charles P. Carper, resident of Promise for 42 years, died at La Grande, Monday, May 24, 1937, after an illness of over a year. Funeral services were held at the cemetery in Promise, Tuesday, and were attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends, Rev. Barton of Promise, died at the Enterprise Hospital Saturday (Nov. 8, 1941) where he had been a patient for several weeks and funeral services were held at the Promise Grange Hall Monday conducted by Arvil Hurt, Christian Minister of Wallowa.
