Lostine, Wallowa County, Oregon Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Lostine Christian church for Mary Elizabeth Hearing, Wallowa County pioneer, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Dolkey near Medford, May 29, 1929. Rev. Arthur Harriman of Wallowa conducted the services. A quartet, Mrs. Orval McArtor, Mrs. Roy Haun, Roy Haun and Chas. Bridwell, sang appropriate hymns, with Mrs. S.L. Magill at the piano. Hon. P. A. Marquam was born near Baltimore, Maryland, February 28, 1823, and is the eighth child in a family of nine children of Philip Winchester and Charlotte Mercer (Poole), Marquam. His grandfather was a wealthy merchant of England, employing many ships in carrying on an extensive trade. His father was born in England but at the age of twenty came to America. Enterprise, Oregon Harold Pat Lawrence Throop died May 6, 2007, at the Wallowa Valley Care Center. He was 89. Mr. Throop was born March 17, 1918, in Portland to Herrel R. Throop and Anna Throop Lynch. He grew up on the ranch of his parents, Anna and Charles Lynch. He graduated from high school there in 1936. A private service will be Thursday in Willamette National Cemetery for Louise Serene Durland of Southeast Portland. Mrs. Durland died Sunday [November 25] in a Portland hospital of causes related to age. She was 89. She was born Jan. 26, 1901, in Ellensburg, Wash. Her maiden name was Pedersen. She had lived in the Portland area since 1934 and married Coe Irving Durland, who died in 1960. Mrs. Durland was a homemaker. Survivors include her sons, Richard of Portland and Peter of Chula Vista, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
