Hammitt, Norman Peter – Obituary

Norman P. Hammitt, who has resided in Lane County since 1850, died from heart failure Sunday night, June 2, 1901, at his home in Mohawk Valley, aged 73 years. His beloved wife and three of his children were in Eugene visiting at the time the final summons came, as Mr. Hammitt had been enjoying excellent health. At about 10 o’clock last night some of the children at home heard their father make some noise in his room and asked what was the matter, when he replied, “Get me a light,” and expired. Hammitt, Sarah Frances Zumwalt – Obituary

Services for Mrs. Sarah Frances Hammitt who died at the family home at Mohawk yesterday, will be held at Stafford Cemetery at 1:30 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Mrs. Hammitt, who was 83 years old, was one of the earliest pioneers of the county. She attended Columbia College located on College Hill at the time Rev. E. P. Henderson was president.
