Claude “Shorty” Wingerd, 60, a former resident of LaGrande, OR, died Friday, July 26, in West Virginia. Graveside services for “Shorty” will be held Friday, August 2 at 10:00 a.m. in the Veterans section of Mt. Hope Cemetery, Baker City. Military rites will be accorded by the Mt. Bowman, Evelyn Mae McAllister – Obituary

Evelyn Mae Bowman of 515 SE Byers Ave. died at St. Anthony Hospital Wednesday [June 6, 1973], one day after the death of her husband, former Pendleton Mayor Hugh Bowman. Mrs. Bowman was 73. She was born April 30, 1900, at Longmont, Colo. She had lived in Pendleton 50 years. Survivors are a niece, Mrs. Chet Kirkman, San Francisco; a grandniece, Mrs. Mark Eckenrode, Los Angeles; and several other nieces and grandnieces and nephews in California.
