La Grande, Oregon James (Jim) H. Lockett, 78, of McMinnville and formerly of La Grande, died Oct. 26 at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville. There will be an 11 a.m. memorial service today at the First Baptist Church in McMinnville with Pastor Kent Harrop officiating. A private family burial will be at the Enterprise Cemetery. Swauger, Seymur – Obituary

Frightful Death Seymur Swauger, a resident of North Fork, a station in the Blue Mountains between La Grande and Pendleton, was killed by an O.R. & N. train last Saturday morning. Mr. Swauger was somewhat intoxicated and it is supposed that he attempted to alight from a moving train near that station and fell under the car wheels. He was hrribly mangled, the head being entirely severed from the body, and pieces of his anatomy were scattered along the tract for a distance of several hundred feet. Watson Funeral To Be Tuesday The remains of Bert Watson who passed on at Portland a few days ago, arrived in La Grande this morning from Amity, where he made his home. The funeral services will take place from the Snodgrass and Zimmerman chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The body will be interred in the Masonic cemetery. Well Known Woman Passed Away Last Monday Mrs. Blanche Fugit of Kalema, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Bellfield of this place, died in the hospital at La Grande, Monday morning of this week. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church and burial was made in the North Powder cemetery, the following afternoon.
