Blanche Marilla Fugit, aged 21 years, passed away on June 8, 1919, at La Grande Hospital, Oregon. Survived by her husband, two young children, and numerous family members, her funeral took place at the Methodist church, followed by burial in North Powder cemetery. Her religious dedication was evident from an early age, joining the Methodist church at 11.

Swauger, Seymur – Obituary

Seymur Swauger, a resident of North Fork, was tragically killed by an O.R. & N. train last Saturday morning. It is believed he attempted to exit the moving train while intoxicated and fell, resulting in severe injuries, including decapitation. His remains were scattered along the tracks. Swauger had lived in the county for several years, working for the O.R. & N. Co. in Kamela. His funeral took place in La Grande on Monday.

Watson, Bert – Obituary

Bert Watson, a long-time resident of the Grande Ronde Valley, passed away suddenly in Amity, Oregon, on March 10, 1922. Born on April 2, 1870, in Fairfield, Iowa, he moved with his family to the valley in 1872. Previously a store owner in Kamela, he had been serving as foreman until health issues led him to Amity. His funeral will be held on March 14 at 3 p.m. at the Snodgrass and Zimmerman chapel, with burial in the Masonic cemetery. He is survived by four sisters and a brother.

Lockett, James H. – Obituary

James H. Lockett, 78, of McMinnville and formerly of La Grande, passed away on October 26 at the Willamette Valley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in McMinnville. Born in La Grande in 1928, he earned degrees in education and served as an elementary school principal for 31 years. Lockett authored two historical books on Yamhill County and was involved in various community service activities. He is survived by his wife, daughters, siblings, and five grandchildren.
