Biography of Thomas Henderson Read
Thomas Henderson Read, born March 3, 1841, in Illinois, has served as president of the First National Bank of Shenandoah since its establishment. Despite lacking formal training in finance, he demonstrated keen judgment and reliability, leading to the bank’s growth and success. Read also organized other banks in southwestern Iowa. Active in his community, he contributed to the local Congregational church and the establishment of a library, showcasing his commitment to public service. He and his wife, Ermina, have four children.
