Lyle L. Taylor, 75, of Vernonia, and former Baker City resident, died April 8, 1999, at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Memorial services will be at 2 pm Sunday, May 2 at the Vernonia Evangelical Bible Church 967 State Street in Vernonia with Pastor Grant Williams will officiating. Interment will be private. La Grande, Union County, Oregon Man Killed When Car Goes In Ditch G.W. Hansell, of La Grande, was killed instantly when a touring car he was driving left the Oregon Trail a mile north of Haines early Saturday morning and turned over in a ditch. Hansell was driving alone and authorities who investigated believe he fell asleep at the wheel. Hansell had been employed as a salesman by a Baker automobile agency for the past few weeks.
