Elgin, Oregon Aug. 9 — Thomas Smith, memorial service, 1 p.m., United Methodist Church, Elgin The Observer – August 4, 2008 ___________________________________ Thomas Ira Smith, 93, of McMinnville and formerly of Elgin, died July 10 in McMinnville. Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at the United Methodist Church at Fifth and Birch Street in Elgin. Autumn Crematorium in Tigard was in charge of arrangements. Henrietta Esther Smith, 99, of Elgin, died Wednesday, May 6, at her home. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elgin United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Peters officiating. Committal and vault interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Friends may call at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon and evening. Mrs. Smith was born on February 25, 1893, in Jackson, Minn., the fifth of eight children to William Henry and Louisa (Brandt) Cruikshank. 1912 – 2004 Florence E. Smith, 91, died Jan. 7 at her home in Elgin. A celebration of her life and memorial service will he held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Elgin with Elmer Yoder officiating. A private vault interment was held Jan. 10 at the Elgin Cemetery. Ms. Smith was born in Gridley, Calif., to Henrietta Cruikshank and Ira Smith on Sept. 17, 1912.
