Harvey Graves McIntire, M.D., born on July 2, 1824, in Lyndeboro, N.H., emerged as a notable physician in Concord after graduating from Harvard Medical School in 1848. Initially practicing in Goshen for seventeen years, he moved to Concord, where he continued until his death in 1892 from an accident complicated by pneumonia. A progressive medical professional, McIntire was the first in New Hampshire to use chloroform as an anesthetic. He was married to Margaret McCrillis and had three children, contributing to both his community and the medical field.
Albon Loverin, born May 24, 1851, in Springfield, N.H., was the fourth child of Austin C. and Lavina A. Loverin. After gaining experience working on various farms, he settled in Northfield in 1885, purchasing the 75-acre Chase Wyatt farm, which he improved while operating a profitable dairy. He married Jennie L. McDowell that same year, and they have one daughter, Gracie Belle. Loverin’s estate, now known as Mountain View Farm, serves as a seasonal retreat for city dwellers, and he is a registered Democrat.
