Andy Thompson, an old and well known resident of this place, died at his home on the 18th of this month after a long illness, from dropsy and heart trouble at the age of seventy-three. Elgin, Union County, Oregon Fatally Hurt in Explosion of Blasting Caps Delbert Darr was fatally injured and his brother, George, received a score of painful bruises and cuts about his head and shoulders between 7 and 8 o’clock Tuesday morning when a quantity of dynamite caps which they were preparing to take with them to work, exploded. Frank Milne Drowned The people of Elgin received another shock last Friday evening by the intelligence that Frank Milne, of this city, had been drowned in Clarks creek, a short distance above Elliott’s. Mr. Milne had been out on his ranch on that stream, looking after his cattle and had gone over on the creek to look for a horse at the time the accident occurred. Peter Phalb died at his home near Elgin last Saturday. Dr. Brownell was called to attend Mr. Phalb who had been ailing for some time but before the doctor reached his home he was dead.
