The series contains original affidavits of registration that record personal information about each registrant, their photograph affixed to the majority of documents, and the registrants fingerprints. All of these are specific to Kansas, and most have the actual documents attached.
Fred Robertson, born in Orange County, New York, became a prominent Kansas resident after his family moved there in 1885 for economic opportunities. Despite early hardships, including living in a sod house and drought-afflicted farming, Robertson pursued education and law, eventually gaining admission to the bar in 1897. He built a successful legal career, serving as Rawlins County attorney and Kansas state senator. Appointed as the United States district attorney for Kansas in 1913, he resides in Kansas City with his wife, Luella, and their daughter.
Leonard V. McKee, a prominent figure in Marshall County’s development, was born on August 18, 1845, in Ohio and passed away in Frankfort, Kansas, on December 22, 1916. He founded the Frankfort State Bank, transitioning from farming to banking, and significantly contributed to local institutions, including Baker University and Bethany Hospital. A veteran of the Civil War, McKee was also active in local politics and philanthropy. He married twice, fathering six children, and was regarded as a caring community leader and devoted family man.
Clyde Wilmer Linscott, 81, passed away on October 11, 2005, in Baker City. His funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at Grays West Co. Pioneer Chapel, led by Pastor Monte Loyd, with visitation prior. Born on June 9, 1924, in Kansas, Clyde served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later managed various businesses, including a wrecking yard and welding shop. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was preceded in death by his wife and son. Memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Church.
