Fireman Is Killed When Train Strikes Boulder Richard T. Rettig, 31, locomotive fireman of La Grande, was instantly when passenger train, No. 26 was wrecked a mile this side of Cayuse station at 12:30 Tuesday morning. The wreck was caused by the engine crashing into a huge boulder that had fallen upon the track. The engine was thrown against the left bank and the tender toward the river on the right.
