Indian Tribes of the Rocky Mountain Region

The Regional Director represents the RMRO in dealing with other governmental and tribal entities. The RMRO’s mission is to provide services to American Indian Tribes, Individual American Indians and other Agencies, effectively managing and protecting the Trust Resources, enhancing the quality of life and supporting Tribal Sovereignty, while actively promoting Self-Determination, and Economic Development opportunities.

Blackfeet Agency Bureau of Indian AffairsThe Blackfeet Reservation is located in north central Montana and shares the western boundary (of the reservation) with Glacier National Park. This scenic reservation is home to over 16,000 Blackfeet enrolled tribal members and contains about 1,500,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 980,945 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage.

The Crow Reservation is located in southeastern Montana and is just south of Billings, Montana. This resource rich reservation is home to over 12,000 Crow enrolled tribal members and contains about 2,282,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 1,511,975 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage.

Fort Belknap Agency Bureau of Indian Affairs
The Fort Belknap Reservation is located in north central Montana near Havre, Montana. This resource rich reservation is home to over 6,500 Gros Ventre and Assiniboine enrolled tribal members (Fort Belknap Community Council) and contains about 623,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 649,628 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage that includes Turtle Mountain Public Domain lands.

The Fort Peck Reservation is located in northeastern Montana near Wolfpoint, Montana. This resource rich reservation is home to over 12,000 Assiniboine & Sioux enrolled tribal members and contains about 2,094,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 939,165 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage that includes Turtle Mountain Public Domain lands.

Northern Cheyenne Agency Bureau of Indian Affairs
The Northern Cheyenne Reservation is located in southeastern Montana near Colstrip, Montana. This mineral rich reservation is home to over 9,300 Northern Cheyenne enrolled tribal members and contains about 444,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 442,276 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage that includes Turtle Mountain Public Domain lands.

Wind River Agency Bureau of Indian Affairs
The Wind River Reservation is located in southwestern Wyoming near Lander, Wyoming. This scenic and mountainous reservation is home to over 3,900 Eastern Shoshone and 8,600 Northern Arapahoe enrolled tribal members and contains about 2,268,000 acres of land within its exterior boundary. There are about 1,820,766 acres of tribal and allotted surface trust acreage.
