Kalapooian Indian Bands, Gens and Clans

Many tribes have sub-tribes, bands, gens, clans and phratry.  Often very little information is known or they no longer exist.  We have included them here to provide more information about the tribes.

Ahantchuyuk. A division of the Kalapooian family on and about Pudding r., an E. tributary of the Willamette, emptying into it about 10 m. s. of Oregon City, Oreg.

Ampalamuyu. A Lakmiut band near Luckiamute r., Oreg. Gatschet, Lakmiut MS. vocab., B. A. E., 1877.

Ampishtna. The Lakmiut name of a band of the Calapooya proper, residing E. of upper Willamette r., Oreg. Gatschet, Lakmiut MS., B. A. E., 1877.

Andshankualth. The Lakmiut name of a Yamel band on a w. tributary of the Willamette, in Oregon. Gatschet, Calapooya MS., B. A. E., 1877.

Andshimmampak. The Lakmiut name of a Yamel band on Yamhill cr., Oregon. Gatschet, Calapooya MS., B. A. E., 1877.

Chemapho. Mentioned in the Dayton treaty of 1855 as a Kalapooian band.

Chemeketas. Supposed to have been one of the Kalapooian bands formerly near Salem, Oreg. Ingersoll in Harper s Mag., 769, Oct., 1882.

Chillychandize. Mentioned as a small Kalapooian tribe on Willamette r., Oreg.
