John J. Morrow, 79, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Ball, four miles north of Ft. Madison, Wednesday evening [October 20, 1937] about five o’clock, after a short illness. [Died Lee Co.]
The deceased was the son of Rebecca Allender and Tillman Morrow, and was born in Henry County, June 30, 1858. On March 3, 1881 he was married to Susan Alice Smith near Trenton, where he for five years operated a store. With the exception of a short time spent in Missouri and Nebraska, he had lived on farms in Henry County.
Mr. Morrow’s wife passed away April 18, 1934. He leaves six children, and a foster daughter. They are: Fred Morrow, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Anna Mae Strain, Genoa, Nebr.; Harlan Morrow, Santa Monica, Calif.; Arthur T. Morrow; Harry R. Morrow of New London; Mrs. Gladys Ball, Ft. Madison; Mrs. Mary Ball, New London. He also left three brothers, and two sisters, Charles Morrow, Wayland; Fred Morrow, Trenton; Miles Morrow, Mrs. Lem Lodgson and Mrs. Louis Craff, of Mt. Pleasant; and thirty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, afternoon at 2:30 at the Richwoods Church, six miles northwest of Mt. Pleasant, in charge of the funeral, Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church. Interment at the Richwoods Cemetery.
