Galbreath, Mary Matilda Paxson

Mary Matilda Pasxon, daughter of Jacob C. and Sarah Ann Paxson, was born April 1, 1852, at Winona, Columbiana County, Ohio. She moved to Michigan with her parents in 1871 where she attended school and for about seven years taught in the rural schools in Hartford Township. In 1875 she was marred to William Franklin Galbreath. To this union were born four children, Ethel L., Stanton T., Christie F., and one son who died in infancy.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Ladies of the Maccabees, until the last few years when failing sight prevented her attending. During her earlier life she was always willing to be of any assistance where there was sickness or sorrow of any kind. She never was affiliated with any church, but was born of Quaker parentage and always adhered to their belief, being satisfied with the simple things of life.

She passed away December 11, 1931 at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 10 days. She leaves to mourn her loss three children, seven grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, and a host of friends.

Funeral rites were held at the home of 1:30 and at Zuver & Calvin Chapel at 2 o’clock on December 13, Rev. John H. Balfour of Coloma officiating. Burial was at Pioneer Cemetery.
