Genevieve Blanche “Jean” Stickney, 90, of La Grande, died April 1 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Island City Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Daniels-Knopp, Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Jean was born on Aug. 26, 1917, to Charles “Bob” and Anna Gertrude Reasland Heisner in Hazard, Neb. On Dec. 3, 1935, she married Wayne Rufus Stickney and they moved to Imbler in 1936. After a year they moved to La Grande.
Jean enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting and cooking. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Betty Stickney of Hermiston; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Lee Snyder of La Grande; and daughter and her companion, Velva Richardson and Rich Good, of La Grande; siblings and their spouses, Charles and Betty Heisner of Kamloops, B.C., Canada, and Donna and Don Anderson of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, Wayne; and a great-granddaughter, Genevieve Louise Powell.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland 97239-3009.
