Paradise, Oregon

Rena E. Clark, a former resident of Athena, died Sept. 23, 2007, at the St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. She was 90.

Mrs. Clark was born April 27, 1917, in Paradise to James and Anne Beeman Winters. She was one of 15 children. She attended schools in Paradise and later graduated from White Salmon High School in White Salmon, Wash.

She married Charlie R. Tinsley on Feb. 22, 1934, in Enterprise, where he farmed and worked in the sawmills. The couple later moved to Adams in 1957. He died in 1962.

Mrs. Clark moved to Athena and later married Everett Clark on July 17, 1967, in Lewiston, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1983. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and doing handiwork.

Mrs. Clark is survived by three sons, Lawrence Tinsley of Marysville, Wash., Charles Tinsley of Pasco, Wash., and Delbert Tinsley of California; two daughters, Karen Bryson of Pendleton and Sue Widner of Pilot Rock; three sisters, Bertha Prince of Union, Alta Anderson of Estacada and Wilma Tippett of Lostine and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; two sons, James and Michael Tinsley; four brothers, Vancil Buck Winters, Virgil Winters, Percy Winters and Willard Bill Winters; and seven sisters, Armentia Winters, Violet Sasser, Pearl Sasser, Goldie Collinsworth, Sylvia Stubbs, Bessie Fleser and Leatha Royes.

Funeral services were held Sept. 27 in the chapel of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. Concluding services and interment were in the Athena Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children through the funeral home.
