Louis C. Bender, 68, Rt. 5, died Saturday [August 21, 1982] while on a fishing trip near White Salmon. He was born in Ellensburg on Dec. 22, 1913. He was a rural mail carrier for nine years and later, from 1936 to 1972, he owned and operated the Horse Shoe Tavern
He and June Molotte were married in Pasco on Feb. 15, 1948. Mr. Bender was a member of the Eagles Lodge and he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed gardening and working in his flowers. He also was a member of the Kittitas County Field and Stream Club
Survivors include his wife, June Bender of Ellensburg; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Donna) Tharp, Mrs. Les (Gwene) Sorenson and Gayle Bender, all of Ellensburg and Mrs. Larry (Janis) Bennett of Spokane,; eight grandchildren and two brothers, Harrell and Russell Bender, both of Ellensburg
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Evenson’s Chapel. The Rev. Alvin Lustie will officiate and burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery
The family suggests memorials to Kittitas County Field and Stream Club care of Carl Fischer, 309 S. Ruby, Ellensburg, or to the Heart Fund care of Mrs. Frank Green, 913 E. Washington, Ellensburg
