Dennis, Ida Mrs. – Obituary

Mrs. Ida Dennis, 95, 1408 Washington Ave., La Grande, a housewife, passed away at a local hospital Friday, Aug. 4 (1967). She has lived here since 1949.

Mrs. Dennis was born in Witter, Ark., Nov. 11, 1871, and was a past active member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Rebekah Lodge.

Services will be conducted at the Crippin and Daniels Chapel Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. Rev. Gordon Milldrum will officiate and burial will be at the Summerville Cemetery.

In 1899 she married John Rollins and the couple had two children, a son, Oscar Rollins, and a daughter, Flossie Rollins Murphy, both of whom now reside in Cove. Mr. and Mrs. Rollins moved to Oregon in 1917, settling for a period of two years in the Imbler area. In 1919 they moved to Cove where they operated a fruit farm. Mr. Rollins passed away in 1925 at the age of 74.

Later Mrs. Rollins married William Dennis in Berkeley, California and lived there many years. She again became a widow in 1944 and five years later returned to La Grande where she lived until her death.

In addition to her son and daughter, Mrs. Dennis has two grandchildren, Keith Murphy of La Grande and Lois Rollins Rauch of Washington, D.C., and four great-grandchildren.
