James H. Anderson, whose term as state auditor of Idaho expired at the beginning of the present year (1899), was born in Platte County, Missouri, on the 4th of October 1845. His ancestors were early settlers of Virginia and were participants in that struggle which ended in the overthrow of British rule in the colonies and the establishment of the United States of America. “The San Antonio Story” by Sam Woolford, with contributions from his wife Bess Carroll Woolford, is a history of San Antonio, Texas. Published in 1950 by Joske’s of Texas, the book was conceived as a remedy for the lack of historical knowledge among San Antonio’s school children, a concern identified by Herbert U. Rhodius, chairman of the Municipal Advertising Commission of San Antonio in 1948-49. Rhodius and his colleagues believed that a readable and authentic history could address this educational gap, making it suitable supplementary reading for public junior high schools.

Genealogical Record of Thomas Wait and his descendants looks at the genealogy of Thomas Wait (1601-1677) who was from Wethersfield Parish, Essex, England. On his arrival in America, landing in Rhode Island, he applied for a lot on which to build,and was granted it on 7/1/1639. On 3/l6/l641 he became a Freeman in Newport R. I. He died in Portsmouth R. I., before April 1677 intestate. This Thomas Wait was a cousin to the Richard Waite of Watertown Mass., who was a large land owner. This unpublished manuscript provides the descendants of this family.

Anderson, Kenneth R. – Obituary

Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Kenneth R. Anderson, 73, died December 18, 1993 at Pendleton, Oregon. He was born June 3, 1920. He married Dorothy Scott at Enterprise. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1960. Survivors include his son Keith of Portland. Two daughters, Ilene Gilchrist and Elaine Anderson, both of Pendleton. Seven grandchildren and one great- grand child. Funeral service was held Wednesday December 22, 1993, at the Bollman Funeral Home. With private vault internment in Enterprise Cemetery. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Funeral Services were conducted Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Richard Anderson (Lois Ward), 28, of Oregon City. Rev. Earl Rogers officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Ralp Kay and Mrs. Garnet Best who sang “Beyond the Sunset”. Pallbearers were Keith Searles, Harold Lay, Bob Hamilton, Jack Christy, Bob Freels and Clyde Fleenor. F. L. ANDERSON was born November 5, 1856, in Todd County. He is a son of F. A. and Mary (Magill) Anderson. The former died September 12, 1884; the mother is living in Allensville. They were natives of Kentucky. Our subject now owns and occupies this farm, consisting of about 200 acres and known as the old Andrews farm. Mr. Anderson was married December 18, 1879, to Miss Lucy, daughter of Edward Anderson of Paducah, Ky.; they are devoted members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
